NIGERIAN ARMY QUIVER OVER 30TH MAY HOLOCAUST AS AMNESTY REPORT IS BEING AWAITED

It was not up to 24 hours Amnesty International made a special report on the incident which transpired on 30th May 2016, when the Indigenous People of Biafra gathered to commemorate the remembrance of their fallen heroes and heroines, an event which saw the Nigerian army use live bullets at them thereby resulting in the death of many; that the deputy director Public Relations officer of the Nigerian Army- Col Gambo Hamza quickly responded to the report.

The report made by amnesty international also had it that the Nigerian Army rampaged many homes and churches on the 29th of may, 2016, where members of Indigenous People of Biafra who sojourned from different parts of Biafra Land sought refuge for the commemoration event billed for the 30th of May 2016.

Prior to the quick report grabbed by amnesty international, the Nigerian Army gave a reply through the deputy director army public relations – Colonel Hamza Gambo whose defensive statements over the report were inaccurate and spurious to what happened the day they (the army) opened live bullets on unarmed Biafrans.

This shows that the interest amnesty international picked in making quick an overview report on the extrajudicial killings has instilled fear in the Nigerian army, as the army public relations could not find any reason to substantiate their intentional massacre.

In one of his fictitious statements while trying to justify their extrajudicial killings against Biafrans, the deputy director army public relations – Colonel Hamza Gambo said that the members of the indigenous people of Biafra were holding a violent protest which is another blatant lie because, that day was a proposed day to gather at a location which was publicly announced by IPOB to commemorate and honor the dead. All Biafrans did was sing and pray for the dead, while the army rained live bullets at unarmed people. In other words, the Indigenous People of Biafra never held any protest that day!

What happened that day is as clear to everyone as the broad day light because the indigenous people of Biafra have all the concrete pieces of evidence to prove that the Nigerian army committed holocaust, worst still taking away their corpses to their barracks for discreet disposal. If you go to the hospitals, the victims that managed to survive the massacre including children, women and aged men will testify to what happened on May 29/30, that the army in conjunction with the Nigerian police and Navy invaded the gathering of the Indigenous People of Biafra and started shooting at them like animals.

The proposed investigation by the Amnesty International should be encouraged to commence immediately. Amnesty international should however neglect the distractive statements from the Nigerian army and continue with their investigation now that the wounds are still fresh.  While they are at it, the Nigerian army should be closely monitored to avoid erasing all the available evidence considering that they are now defending themselves with lies and propaganda even when the real investigation has not yet started.
