When Biafrans call for their freedom from Nigeria, there must be provable reasons for this call for self-determination. It is so disappointing, the attitude of the international community towards governments that oppress its innocent citizens, simply because they have chosen to express their rights and privileges. As enshrined in the United Nations Charter, Biafrans have all the legal right for self-determination, it is a shame to the United Nations that it cannot live up to its own creed which is being opposed on daily basis by the Nigerian Government.
On the several terrorist acts by the Nigerian Armed forces recently, several young Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members were on their way from Owerri to Aba for meetings, these young men were detained by the Nigerian armed forces. Subsequently, these young men were beaten to stupor by these soldiers and had their hands tied behind their backs. Those were acts by the government that claimed it protects the lives of its citizens.
A few weeks later, the remains of several Biafrans were dug up from a pit along Aba road. The corpses of these young Biafrans were found with their hands tied behind them. Where is the international community and the international Criminal Court? Is the genocide against Biafrans by the Nigerian Government from 1967 to 1970 not enough to prosecute culprits? The killing of Innocent Biafrans by the Nigerian Army as supported by Nigerian Government cannot be neglected. The world should stand up now for justice and freedom and put an end to these senseless killings and destructions.
