BIAFRA WRITERS: AN OPEN LETTER TO THE WORLD

I am sure everyone must have heard of Biafra and the genocide committed against Biafrans between the year 1967-1970 in which more than 3.5 million Biafrans comprising of youths, women and children were brutally massacred.
Today, after 45 years nothing has changed. Biafrans had and always been an object of extermination, targeted by the Nigerian government who continued to kill them in any slightest provocation.

They made us(Biafrans) slaves of conquest for years but today Biafrans want to be free, they yearn for their freedom and independence. They ask for their own separate nation, the Republic of Biafra. The support given to the then Nigeria Military Government to annihilate Biafrans by the British government in 1967 has by virtue of time proven to be a deadly and costly mistake which should be corrected.

Civilization must be free of hypocrisy and it would be in the interest of the British to correct the mistakes of the past through the genuine and unequivocal support for the movement of the restoration of Biafra by the Indigenous People of Biafra. Biafra produces the resources that sustain Nigeria which is exploited at the detriment of Biafrans. They leave Biafraland contaminated, vulnerable to diseases and abject poverty. The wealth gained is shared among Nigerian rich and mighty, excluding Biafrans who died in Biafraland and in the Mediterranean Sea, trying to cross to Europe for their survival.

Amidst all these injustices and marginalization meted out on Biafrans,  Nigeria through its secret security agency, the Department of State Service(DSS), on October 14, last year, hounded and illegally arrested Mr. Nnamdi Kanu(POC), one man who seek to liberate his people from their travails, and was accused falsely of engaging in terrorism and treasonable felony.

On the contrary, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu has been a quiet but outspoken leader. A leader who with his wisdom and truth brought much-needed attention to the situation of Biafrans. There was a wave of protests in all cities of Biafra and in the diaspora in solidarity against his illegal arrest and detention.
Many Biafrans were killed and continue to be killed by agents of the Nigerian security outfits during the protests despite the fact that Biafrans always converge peacefully and without wielding arms, they never killed or harmed anyone. They have suffered, been killed, tortured, brutalized, enslaved and marginalized in Nigeria.

BUHARI VIOLATING HUMAN RIGHTS OF BIAFRANS

Since Buhari assumed office as the President of Nigeria, human right abuses have become a trend in Nigeria's polity on one hand, the atrocities of Boko Haram against the population, on the other hand. The indiscriminate and, extra-judicial arrests and detention, torture and killings, extortion and violence committed by the Nigerian army, the DSS and Police against Biafrans have become an everyday phenomenon.

Finally, the massacring of peaceful and unarmed Biafrans by the Nigerian police, army and navy around Biafraland in consonance with their detained leader Nnamdi Kanu has gone down in the book of the history of countries whose Government promotes violence against the rights of the citizens with impunity.
It is very clear to the whole world that President Buhari and Nigeria hates the people of Biafra with passion, and that is why they are being killed in every peaceful protest organized by Biafrans. And this is so because Biafrans were nonviolent and without weapons.

It is still fresh in the memory of what happened on the 18th of January, 2016. Buhari gave an immediate order to the police and the  military Nigerian Army to start shooting and killing innocent Biafrans,  despite their peaceful disposition.
Biafrans and Nnamdi Kanu are advocates of freedom, who are calling for the restoration of their nation Biafra acknowledging the universal law of Self-determination as provided in the United Nation's and African Union's Charter.

We are not Nigerians. We are Biafrans and we are calling on the world to hear our voices and come to our rescue. Nnamdi Kanu must be freed.
The Sovereign State of Biafra which was in existence before the amalgamation must be restored before another genocide is committed against Biafrans.
The Indigenous People of Biafra and Nnamdi Kanu are fighting for the freedom of the people of Biafra. We have the right to seek for self-determination as recommended by the law. No amount of intimidation or killings can ever stop Biafrans from achieving their freedom.
