Biafra: Military Issues Arrest Warrant For IPOB Coordinator

February 27, 2018

There are strong indications that authorities of the Nigerian Army have issued a warrant of arrest for one Azubuike Ibe, who is alleged to be the Coordinator for the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), for Ariaria Zone in Aba, Abia State.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said Ibe escaped before the security agents, comprising the military, the police and operatives of the Department of State Security Service, (DSS), stormed his resident, located at No 22, Erondu Street, Aba, Abia State, to effect his arrest.

Ibe’s name was handed over to the security agencies by three top IPOB officials, who were suspended by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the group in early 2017.

Kanu got information that the suspended officials collected bribe from the Nigerian government and had been sabotaging the Biafran struggle, which allegedly led to a number of IPOB officials being killed.

The suspended IPOB officials are: Uchenna Asiegbu, a.k.a Omiomo, who is resident in Spain, Barrister Emma Mmezu, a resident of the United Kingdom and Engr Clifford Iroanya, who lives in the United States of America.

The eyewitness further alleged that Ibe was declared wanted by the military for the role he played in shooting the undercover videos showing the Nigerian army massacre of some non-violent, unarmed Biafran at the National High School in Aba, Abia State, on February 9, 2016.

Ibe was alleged to be instrumental to the video, which caused so much outrage against the Nigerian government and military.

However, the video was later obtained by Intersociety and Amnesty international and a full investigation into the Aba massacre was declared by the Amnesty International in the United Kingdom.

A detachment of the Army, DSS and Police stormed Ibe’s resident in Aba yesterday, but were unable to capture him, but some of his neighbors were not so lucky as they were allegedly tortured by the security agents to force them to disclose the whereabout of Ibe.

Meanwhile, Commander, 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, has called on members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of Ibe.
