BIAFRA: PYTHON DANCE, A STEERED OPERATION TO ELIMINATE BIAFRANS

By Chikwas Onu Ikpe | For Biafra Writers

September 13, 2017

Let me begin this piece with an interposition:

In the evening hours of September 10, 2017, about 1800hrs; there was a heavy military incursion (courtesy of the Nigerian Army) with heavily-clad vehicles, flaunting the environs of Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia which happens to be the home of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The barricade owing to the ostensible "Show of Force" ensued a centered attack upon unarmed Biafrans, mowing down at least three persons.

OPERATION PYTHON DANCE DECLARATION (as quoted):

The Nigerian Army is to launch "Python Dance II" - "Operation Ogbu Eke II", in the South East between September 15 and October 14, to check violent criminals, agitators and other forms of criminalities.
"Building on this achievements, exercise Ogbu Eke II has become more expedient due to spate of assassinations, even in religious places, attacks on security personnel and theft of weapons, kidnapping, armed banditry, VIOLENT AGITATIONS BY SECESSIONIST GROUPS, among other crimes that have recently bedeviled the region."

"During the operation, emphasis will be placed on raids, cordon, and search, anti-kidnapping drills, road blocks, check points, patrols, humanitarian relief activities such as medical outreach and show of force to curb the rising threats to national security in the south eastern part of the country."

To all intents and purposes, I dare say the unwarranted military occupation cum Python dance is affiliated to laying on the line - the life of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and to assassinating him. In addition, the steered Python dance is in the vicinity of harassing, intimidating, subjugating, overwhelming and annihilating unarmed and peaceful Biafra agitators by the Nigerian government to orchestrate a repulsion, so as to find the flimsiest of excuses to cause pandemonium and mastermind a mass onslaught of innocent Biafrans, and furthermore legitimizing their false alarm of "terrorism" tagged upon IPOB.

Recall that the said Python dance was scheduled to be launched from September 15 to October 14, 2017. But prior to this date, Biafraland is barricaded with weighted armoured tanks and arsenal, at the same time they have commenced unleashing their concrete aim which is to intimidate and decimate Biafrans (note the emphasis in the quoted declaration).

The ongoing cataclysm in Biafraland, especially in the homestead of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not unconnected to the handiwork of Arewa group of terrorists. On July 10, 2017, the leader of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Shettima Yerima said: "...We will take the fight to Nnamdi Kanu's domain."

The degree of deployment of the armed security forces and the combative movement of heavy military armoury in Biafraland, in such a peaceful time, depicts the notion of a state of emergency or a battle-feud. But one may ask, are we in a combat zone? How do the outcries of self-determinism amount to war?

While the “Pythons are dancing’’ in the peaceful regions of Biafraland, the marauding Fulani militia, masquerading as herdsmen are without restrictions slaughtering innocent lives. Just about a couple of days ago, the Fulani herdsmen raided Ancha village, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State; nineteen persons were killed, five others injured.

How about the incessant attacks and bombings by the Boko Haram insurgents in the North-Eastern Nigeria? Why are there no conveyance of military cordons to such places? Yes, let the army take this Python dance to Sambisa forest! The military efforts should be redirected towards combating the resurgence of terrorism in the unruly North-Eastern Nigeria by armed Islamists of Boko Haram. It is documented that Nigerian military has never fought war against external aggression; it was blatant how Nigerian territory was annexed by Cameroon without Nigerian military clapping a fly.

The besieging of military artillery in Biafraland is not only provocative but undemocratic and violative of the principles of liberty; it infringes the enjoyment of the constitutionally enshrined human right provisions. Hence, we call upon the International Human Rights Organization (IHRO), the international community - United Nations (UN), African Union (AU), Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and conscientious personnel(s) to be put on guard - the beleaguering situation of Biafraland, and the targeted decimation of Biafrans by the Nigerian army, spearheaded by Buhari-led government. In the face of unceasing intimidation and subjugation, we are determined to hem in all intended, violent repulsion, and continue to ply the laid down principles by United Nations (UN), in relation to Self-determinism; amidst their ill-timed and extreme assault and battery.

In contempt of the outrageous bloodshed and servitude, be it as it may, I enjoin all Biafrans to remain peaceful in times like this. The Nigerian government, having envisaged the efficacy of our non-belligerent preference to our freedom have intended to spook and coerce us to repulse, to pick up arms, hence justifying their false alarm that IPOB is a 'terrorist organization'. Let us keep it on, undeterred, in the non-violent volition of our pursuit. When the nine months is good and proper the pregnant woman shall be delivered of a baby. The extrication of the Godly people of Biafra from the dungeon of slavery and "penal servitude" is dependent on God Almighty (Chi-ukwu) to whom we look upon because our help comes from no other than Him alone.

ONE DAY, ONE DAY WE SHALL BE FREE!
