BIAFRA: THE UNREPENTANT NIGERIAN FORCES IN ANOTHER SHOW OF SHAME

May 22, 2017

The news came in the mid morning of friday May 19, 2017, that the combination team of Nigerian army and police invaded the venue where the women of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were having their conference in Abiriba, Ohafia L.G.A. in Abia State.

The news had it that the IPOB women were surrounded by the men of Nigerian army heavily armed, and were ordered to enter the police and army van. The women were stripped naked, humiliated and some of them arrested.

However, the women saw it as a test of their resolve to restore Biafra under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and indeed lived up to expectation. The formidable women of IPOB withstood Nigerian forces, proceeded to protest the humiliation at the palace of the king of Abiriba Kingdom, where the matter was resolved.

Nigerian forces, especially the army will not cease to amaze me. They seem to have forgotten the history of Aba women riot of 1914. When Biafran women are out to get something, they go to the extreme to ensure they get it and that is why our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu said “any day our women come out for this struggle, know that Biafra has come.”

Moreover, I still wonder why this Hausa/Fulani Boko Haram in army uniform invaded the venue of the conference to molest the women for simply expressing their right to assemble; to worsen it, they ordered the women to undress, this is lunacy at its peak. There is no doubt that they wanted to kidnap our women and rape them. If not for the intervention of the king of Abiriba Kingdom, some of our women would have been sex slave in Hausa/Fulani army barrack in Ohafia. What a show of shame!

While Nigeria is still battling with curbing Boko Haram menace, one would have thought that these soldiers would be in sambisa forest fighting their fellow men that are heavily armed to the teeth like them and not patrolling the streets and villages in Biafraland, molesting, kidnapping and raping our women.

It is also disheartening that since the occurrence of this incident, the Abia state Governor Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and the elders have not come out to condemn this barbaric act by the Nigerian army; this is not the first time they are keeping mute while these touts in army uniform and their police counterparts continue to maim their people in Abia state. If it were to be in the north, their governors and elders wold have thrown up tantrums. It is really unfortunate the kind of governors and elders we have in Biafraland.

However, we are alerting human right organizations, men and women of goodwill, lovers of freedom and the world at large to take note of the gross abuse of human right of the women of the indigenous People of Biafra IPOB by Nigerian forces and urging them to support our call for self determination.
