Biafra: Call To Re-open Ex Adamawa State Gov.(Binta's Husband) Murtala Nyako And Son's Criminal Case

March 28, 2017

Former Chief of Naval Staff cum ex governor of Adamawa state, Murtala Nyako and son, Abdulaziz were arrested by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on the ground of gross misconduct and alleged criminal fraud after he was said to have diverted huge amount of money belonging to Adamawa state to his private companies between January 2011 and December 2014.

According to the source, the witness, Chinedu Ayogu, a compliance officer with Diamond Bank, while being led in evidence by O.A. Atolagbe, told the court that the bank received request with respect to some companies linked to the defendants. The names of these private companies owned by Murtala Nyako include: Crust Energy Limited, Tower Assets Management Limited, Pagoda Fortune Limited, Blue Opal Limited and Sabore Farms and Extention Limited.

“On May 2, 2013, Crust Energy Limited was credited with N160 million, N79 million on May 13, 2013, and another N79 million on May 14, 2013, N150 million on May 23, 2013, and another N150 million on June 7, 2013, N120 million and N100 million on July 16, 2013, N508,500,000 on November 19, 2013, and N38,025,000 on December 10, 2013", Ayogu said.

According to Ayogu, the documents also indicated that “on August 13, 2013, Belmark Enterprise IFO Sentinel Exploration was credited with $4,500,000. On November 19, 2013, Belmark Enterprise IFO Sentinel was credited with $3,000,000. On December 12, 2013, Sentinel Exploration E/O Belmark Enterprise was credited with $220,000”.

Murtala Nyako’s criminal case was presided over by Justice Stephen Evoh Chukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja. While still presiding over a high profile case such as Murtala Nyako and son's, Judge Eboh met his untimely death. The Judge died of undisclosed illness. Now fingers are pointing directly to Nyako's family of being responsible for the death of a honorable Judge Evoh Chukwu who stood firmly on equity, fairness and justice at all times despite who was involved.

Rumor has it that the frustrated family of rogues (Nyako's) might have have murdered a competent judge, Justice Evoh Chukwu to shield the truth of their embezzlement of Adamawa state money from the public. Up till now, no investigation was carried out on Nyako's family to ascertain their innocence or otherwise on the sudden departure of Justice Evoh Chukwu.

According to the Nigerian constitution, an individual irrespective of class or immunity if found guilty of any crime after trial in court is punishable by law - according to its dictates.

It's bewildering and beats my imagination why Murtala Nyako, the husband to the Abuja High Court judge, Binta Nyako has not been prosecuted, and put behind bars, having known his criminal record of conspiracy, stealing, corruption and diversion of Adamawa state treasury to his five aforementioned companies and having been accused of complicity to the death of his former trial judge, Justice Evoh Chukwu.

If law still maintains its slogan of being a respecter of no one, why has Murtala Nyako not been convicted of his crimes? Why can't the law take its effect on a known corrupt fellow like Murtala with all the incriminating evidences against him?

People like Murtala Nyako are not meant to be alive for being this cruel. Therefore, at this juncture, I ask the case be reopened and Nyako tried properly in a competent court of jurisdiction. It's time for the law to take its hold. Law offenders, culprits, embezzlers must face the wrath of the law and subjected to its stands.

Prisoners of conscience, the likes of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and others wrongly accused and detained extra-judicially cannot be detained unlawfully while Buhari and is fellow terrorist and criminal alike is roaming about freely; yes Murtala Nyako has been implicated and confirmed as a Boko Haram sponsor and must be tried properly by a competent judge.
