BIAFRA: BIAFRA WRITERS RAISE ALARM AS BUHARI'S DOGS, THE DSS TARGETS THEM FOR ABDUCTION

Media coverage of important Court proceeding is a normal and fundamental duty of the press world over. Sometimes the judiciary invites members of the press corp to cover a judicial process for the benefit of the general public who may not be able to come to the court to listen to court proceedings. But in the case of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB and Director of Radio Biafra London, the reverse is the case.
Journalistic coverage of the case between Nnamdi Kanu and the Federal government of expired Nigeria is like going to cover the unveiling of a captured UFO humanoid from outer space. The Nigerian DSS has made the press coverage of Nnamdi Kanu's case so controversial as if Buhari's ability to convict Kanu depends solely on keeping the press corps away from covering the case so they will have the liberty to concoct lies against him to convict. But this ploy has proved to be a hard nut for both Buhari and his thugs, the DSS to crack.

It was a long drama on the 10th day of January 2017 at the court hearing of Nnamdi Kanu case. The Biafra Writers press that was often present at every trial of its leader Kanu, to give an unadulterated report of events at the court to Biafrans and the world became a target of the DSS that they do not want them to enter the court. Biafra Writers reporter, Anyikwa Kelechi Cynthia was on this 10th day of January 2017 severely manhandled by the men of the Nigerian police and DSS for no just cause or offense.
The press is always permitted to cover and report every court hearing as long as their Identities are certified identifying them as reporter or journalist. But in the case of Nigeria, especially in the case of Nnamdi Kanu the Nigerian DSS will abandon their stipulated duty posts, and start meddling in the duties of the gatekeepers deciding who should enter the court and who will not.
The DSS officers at the court were emphatic that no journalist will be allowed into the court to cover the proceedings as that is a direct order from the president of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari. This declaration was made in the hearing of all IPOB brothers who have gathered at the court premises in solidarity with our leader.

On sighting the Biafra Writers reporter Cynthia Anyikwa among the people, they stated that she won't be permitted into the courtroom. The younger brother of
the IPOB leader Prince FineBoy Kanu countered the hogwash made by the DSS insisting that Biafra Writers reporters must be allowed entrance. This nearly caused a scene but was granted after his intervention.
But the problem of the DSS is not yet over. On getting to court four (4), the same Biafra reporter was again stopped by a DSS officer demanding that she should go down even when she humbly explained that she has been cleared at the gate. The DSS rebuked the explanations made by the reporter. He ordered the security operatives to throw her out and she was immediately surrounded by security personnel about to be push out of the courtroom but for the timely arrival of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

On seeing how the journalist was surrounded demanded to know what was going on which was explained to him; that the DSS has barred the reporter from entering the courtroom. Angered by what he heard, Nnamdi Kanu immediately ordered the reporter to walk into the court. This again nearly led to another fracas but in the end, we always win and the reporter was allowed into the courtroom.
The continuous intimidations on Biafra Writers pressmen never seized. They kept monitoring her. They collected her phone which was later returned. Special surveillance was stationed with her. She was later called out for thorough searching outside the court. When they were confronted to explain the meaning of all these dramas? They said they want to be sure who the reporter is. After the search, nothing incriminating was found on her as they thought they would.
As if that wasn't enough, they came again and took her out and detain her for some minutes after collecting her phone which she pleaded with them to give her back the phone as that is what she work with, but they refused and said she will not work.

The clampdown on Biafra journalists on each court hearing day of our leader Nnamdi Kanu has become a thing of great concern and grave danger to the lives of the Biafran journalists more so when it's a known and established fact that the Nigerian DSS is in the business of abducting Biafrans and killing them extra-judicially.
We are therefore at this point putting the entire IPOB families and the whole world on notice that the Nigerian DSS is a great threat to the Biafran press journalists covering the case of our Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. And that should any harm befall any of them, the Nigeria DSS should be held accountable. They seize their phones and other working materials and equipment when other journalists using the same equipment were ignored by the DSS. This harassment and intimidation of Biafra journalists must stop.
We, therefore, want to make it clear to the Nigerian government and her DSS that no amount of suppression can hide the truth anymore because the Biafra media is a colossus, mightier than all the Nigeria media empire put together. We stand by the truth and only but the truth.
