Malami Set to Deny Attacks on Canadian Minister

Malami Set to Deny Attacks on Canadian Minister

July 12, 2021

Nigerian Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, recently took a broadside at Kelechi Madu, the Minister of Justice and Solicitor-General of Alberta in Canada. Malami, in response to a recent criticism of Madu, described him as ignorant and an empty vessel that has not represented his country of birth well.

The Nigerian-born Canadian had expressed disappointment with Malami for his part in the kidnap of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Kenya last June. The extraordinary rendition in Kenya by the Nigerian agents is a grave violation in international relation that soils the integrity of the involved countries.

The abduction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, a Biafran-born British citizen, has been drawing international outcry. Lord Alton of Liverpool last Wednesday, July 7, demanded an inquiry into the alleged role of the government of Kenya in the adoption and maltreatment of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the circumstances surrounding his transfer to Nigeria against his will. He also demanded to know if any assistance is being provided for him by the British High Commission in Nigeria.

That Malami’s concern right now is tantrums at the Canadian minister when the Nigerian government has a lot to explain to the world is a surprise to the public. Well, Malami has a penchant for denial and having only recently demonstrated that penchant in denying his deride against the Igbo, many are wondering if he won’t pull off same stunt in the Madu calumny.
