In Memory of Heroes and Heroines of Biafra

By Mazi Nwobodo Victor | Biafra Times

May 27, 2020.

The Republic of Biafra which was short-lived as a result of 1967—1970 war with Nigeria, after which the young republic was re-integrated into the Nigerian federation, will be 53 years on May 30, 2020.

Since 2014, Biafrans globally have maintained consistency with this annual event of 30th May set aside for sober reflections in honor of our heroes who died in defense of their fatherland, Biafra. Many of the rights that we enjoy today and which many a time we take for granted are dividends of their ultimate sacrifice. We are therefore indebted to them, we are indebted to them in such a way that we can never repay.

On Biafra’s Memorial Day we mourn our fallen heroes and remember their legacy of courage and the future that they gave us. May 30 is a date with History wherein Biafrans globally observe with passion the sacrifices our gallant men and women made for us.

Of course they are dead but their spirit still live in us. They were killed because they stood on truth. They fought a good fight and we are appreciative of that. Oh departed heroes, the nation "Biafra" you foresaw long ago, fought and died for, the living will work assiduously to bring to reality, and very soon too. Your vision of our nation will never be rooted out.

On this day and every year, those who have died for us would ask no less. They live in our history, reside in our hearts, and rest forever in the arms of God. God bless their families. God bless our veterans and God bless our great nation, Biafra.
