Biafra And Its Rich Agricultural Potentials, Why We Need To Vote For Referendum

By Victoria O. C. Agangan | For Biafra Writers

For the umpteenth time since we crossed the Niger into Onitsha, we approached another barricade which unnecessarily caused slow movement of traffic and an array of exploiting armed uniformed military men waved our bus to a halt once again to collect fifty naira. So funny, frustrating and disheartening! What are soldiers doing on Biafra roads? Are we in emergency rule? Are they also securing borders there? Who benefits from their daily fifty naira booty? Why is their presence important here when there are no federal government structures to protect? These and many thoughts kept rummaging my memory.

As I answered an incoming call, I was jolted by a sharp tap from behind and a hoarse male voice saying, "End that call". Angrily, I accosted him (a military man) but to my amazement, other passengers in the same vehicle with me said I was lucky they did not seize my phone because I was answering a call at a checkpoint or permit me to say, a collection point. This is why we need Biafra.

It seems the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration that dismantled roadblocks in the north and established them in the east is making a retributive statement. Not only has the leadership failed in either bringing the Boko Haram terrorist commanders and sponsors to book but has let go the arrested and jailed in the guise of amnesty while our innocent Biafran brethren are unjustly locked up, without bail, in many detention facilities across the country. This outrageous injustice can only be severed by the emergence of Biafra.

We are checkmated at the seaports located at inconvenience places to enforce embargo on our progress, these and more are sufficient reasons to reason together. Biafrans are we not fed up of unnecessarily developing other regions? Rebuilding, rebranding, establishing and upgrading them? We must begin to invest homewards and stop these oddities because there is definitely no place like home.

Biafra can become a super world trade centre, beautified and qualified for foreign investments of all sorts. Her borders can be enlarged and energized for proper financial growth and stability for the inflow of business accruements. She posses all it takes to be elevated to world power with her technological prowess and natural resources which tends to promote and project her in other coasts. We have gold, coal, crude oil, salt, gas, palm oil, oil bean, cassava, various palm products, textile, crayfish, periwinkle, snail, amongst others to match the international market and gainful exportations.
As skilled business tycoons, Biafrans can easily exploit into these agricultural values, manufacturing technological wares and other products as a boost. We have all it takes to be a great nation! As farmers, new dimensions can be added as animal husbandry, like fish, crayfish, periwinkle and crab rearing take place and packaged for sales.

These include keeping and nursing different domestic and wild edible birds and animals, not to mention rich land fit for agricultural uses in forms of cassava, plantain, palm and pineapple plantations. Biafra has recorded richness in various mushrooms which can be preserved and tinned for marketing. Biafra is truly flowing with richness and must be brought to limelight. No one can do these things for us but us. We must have a rethink! All we need do is collectively vote for a superior Biafra in her forthcoming referendum.  Vote For Biafra Today!
