UPDATES... COUNTDOWN TO PROTEST KICK-OFF; PUNCH, ANGLICAN BISHOPS JOIN THE LEAGUE OF IPOB SUPPORTERS.
It is just a few hours to 23rd September 2016. The hours might be more if you will be protesting from the United States or Canada, or fewer if you will protest from New Zealand or Sydney.
Irrespective of your location, the expectations are very high, marching shoes are ready, the world is in awe, Biafrans are super energized. Rights groups and media houses in Nigeria are not left behind; they have joined the justifiable and legitimate calls for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB.

A few days ago, Christian groups, Muslim groups, and other rights bodies joined the league of US’ Tom Marino to support IPOB in their demand for Nnamdi Kanu’s immediate release, who has twice been ordered to be released by the court.
Just hours ago, the Anglican Bishops, through Punch Newspapers, one of the Nigerian paid media outlets, threw their support to the SIT-AT-HOME protest in Biafra; a tactic that was adopted in Biafra following the shoot-at-sight approach of the Nigerian military against unarmed peaceful Biafran protesters as also revealed by Dennis Martine of Aljazeera.
According to a report by Punch, it read in part ‘’We plead that president Muhammadu Buhari effects the release of Nnamdi Kanu immediately without condition and that all previous court judgment which ordered his release be obeyed without further delay.’’

The Anglican Bishops honored the sit-at-home protest as they decided to cut short the conference to accommodate the exercise. The Primate, on behalf of the 170 bishops in attendance said "we had to put our heads together and decided to cut short the conference. That is the ideal thing to do in the circumstance.’’
The Bishops also called on the federal government to disarm and tackle the Fulani terrorist attacks in the disguise of herdsmen. In their words, ‘’the presence of herdsmen in our countryside is not new, they have always been around. What is, however, new are the unprovoked attacks on their host communities sometimes justified by saying that a cow is missing.
"They lay an ambush and waylay people going to their farms, rape women and destroy farmlands; their victims are at their mercy because they are armed.
"We call on the federal government to immediately disarm these people in order to return peace to Nigeria’’ he concluded.

Meanwhile, reports from Enugu this morning indicated that Ogbete market will be completely shut down by tomorrow; information from Anambra confirmed that Nnewi and Onitsha markets will be under lock and key. Ariara market closure at Aba has been confirmed while the new development is that the Electronics market at Ogbunabali in Igwe Ocha (Port Harcourt) has joined the unending lists of markets, offices, and schools that will be observing the sit-at-home protest by tomorrow, 23rd September 2016.
The public support for this exercise is quite massive and tremendous. From the media publicity, to support from Christian groups, Rights groups, private school owners, business men and women, banks and the international communities.
On the other hand, Biafrans in Diasporas have traveled closer to their respective protest cities around the globe. They are in high spirit and the stage is set.
