BIAFRA: OHANAEZE GROUP OF ABUJA AND LAGOS IGBO LANDLORDS CANNOT SPEAK FOR BIAFRA : DROWNING WITH A SINKING NIGERIA IS A CHOICE

Sunday 18 September, 2016

The federal government of Nigeria seem to have learnt nothing from their failed approach to addressing issues concerning the Niger Delta Avengers’, NDA, activities which has crippled Nigeria’s economy and dragged her into recession.

The federal government of Nigeria is consistent in chasing shadows than confronting reality. In efforts to tackle the NDA, Nigeria was more interested in holding talks with political jobbers than meeting with the concerned individuals as NDA had requested.

In the same manner, the federal government, though had previously failed in this scheme, has renewed its efforts in the use of ‘’Ohanaeze’’ group of Abuja and Lagos Igbo landlords to frustrate efforts geared towards the restoration of Biafra.

Chris Eluemunoh, the chairman of the forum of Ohanaeze state presidents, noted in his speech that ‘’Igbo leaders are against the Biafra agitations, hence, they will never support secession. Anybody that has any issue with the federal government should go for dialogue with the president.’’

He further stated that ‘’what they call ‘agitation for Biafra’ is not in the dictionary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and we will never give it a look in; what Ohaneze is saying is that president Buhari’s administration should be supported to move this country forward.’’

To this end, conceiving that the Nigerian government will consider this speech significant enough to be published is ridiculous. Any individual or group of persons that advised the federal government to employ this scheme as a viable means to frustrating Biafra restoration has no clue of the history of the Igbos and Biafra at large.

Firstly, the federal government should understand that Ohanaeze holds no political office in Igbo culture; they are not considered in decision making and has never shown any sense of responsibility towards the Igbos to deserve such honour. Ohanaeze has never sought for justice against the killings of Biafrans after several progroms in Kano, Kaduna and other Northern states of Nigeria.

If Ohanaeze is familiar with the Igbo history, they will acknowledged that people of their kind had never succeeded in advocating for the Igbos. That was the greatest challenge the Britain encountered in dealing with the Igbos. Igbos are republicans in nature, each man rules his destiny and idea is bought only when it represents opinion of the majority.
Hence, Ohanaeze lacks what it takes to advocate for the Igbos. Their aspirations are way out of line with that of a common Igbo man –an average Igbo man craves for freedom.

Thirdly and most importantly, Ohanaeze is just an insignificant cult in Igbo land while Biafra is made up of over 8 tribes. Ohanaeze cannot speak on behalf of the Ijaws, Itsekiris, Efiks, Ibibios, etc, as to whether the Biafra should be restored or not. Ohanaeze is not competent enough; it is above her call and far beyond her reach to school the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, on how to restore Biafra. Nevertheless, owing to the republican nature of Biafrans, IPOB will never force anybody into supporting the Biafra restoration project. Whether or not Ohanaeze decides to key into these noble cause is irrelevant, because Nigeria is a sinking ship and imbeciles like the rogue group can freely drown with it.

They might deceive the federal government into believing that they are relevant in Biafra but in reality, they know they cannot convince even the poorest man in their respective communities to drop the agitation for Biafra restoration. They are greedy Igbo men of course, and coupled with the current recession in Nigeria’s economy, they should amass as much wealth as they can from the benighted Nigerian government to build more hotels at Enugu, Awka and Owerri; but they know that they are unfortunate they belong to a tribe where money cannot decide our future, but public opinion.

IPOB hereby entreats the federal government of Nigeria to make use of her resources to improve the lives of suffering Nigerians than enrich the already wealthy Ohanaeze group of lunatics. There are already overwhelming plagues that have befallen Nigeria ranging from Boko Haram to famine, desert encroachment, economy recession, naira devaluation, Shiite protesters, Kwashiokor, Cholera, Lassa fever, Polio come-back, earthquake arrival, refugee crisis, Dasukigate drama, Halliburton bribe scandal, speech plagiarism, Niger Delta Avengers, DSS mass resignation, Amensty International indicting reports, Tom Marino’s fingering report, United Nation’s revealing report, the battle for restructure, sports decay, dying educational system and Fulani terrorists attacks.

Adding ‘Biafra’ that withstood Nigeria unprepared for the space of three and a half year war to Nigeria’s list of plagues, will spell grave for the already endangered contraption.
