“Unity by force is slavery”
Today, Tuesday, February 19, 2016, Biafrans are once again setting the world on fire as they step out to protest the illegal detention and trial of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The people are doing this in the form of another world-wide mega protests being held in more than 88 countries of the world.
Since, October 14, 2015, when Buhari ordered his henchmen at the Directorate of State Security (DSS), to abduct Kanu, Biafrans have enacted their world-wide mega protests every day that Kanu was brought to court. Thrice Kanu was released by the courts, and thrice Buhari – in his usual dictatorial show of power – refused to obey the courts to have him released.
Kanu is also the Director of Radio Biafra. He was being brought to court once again to be tried with another round of trumped up charges of treason and felony. And as usual, Biafrans are protesting from the far eastern countries of the world such as Australia and Japan to that of the far western countries like the United States of America (USA) and Canada. The protests are taking place in front of offices of the United Nations (UN), Nigerian Embassies, British High Commissions, as well as EU offices; depending on the preferences of the organizers in each country.
What Biafrans are saying by their protests is that their leader is not a criminal but a freedom fighter (a freedom fighter with a difference), and one who fights by simply broadcasting truth to his people and to the world. Biafrans are ever-ready to explain that Kanu’s campaign was to have his fatherland, Biafra, excised from Nigeria, which they say is now an illegitimate country. To them, Nigeria is illegitimate because it has exhausted its allocated 100 years of existence by its creator, Fredrick Lugard of Britain.
Indeed, Kanu’s broadcasts over the years, through his Radio Biafra, have been that his people, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB (recognized by the United Nations (UN)), be left alone to organize and govern themselves as only they could. Kanu insists that the Biafran people have a right to (and are demanding) to be free from Nigeria, the British creation that has gained them nothing but death and destruction.
No doubt, Kanu’s demand is recognized by the Indigenous Peoples’ Charter of the UN, which was enacted in 2006. Biafra is the demand of a people who existed thousands of years before Britain created and forced them into Nigeria. Biafrans want to go back to the way they were before the British colonized them – a confederation of republican free tribes that lived in peace and harmony without conquests and without empires. Biafra is the demand of people who are not Nigerians and not protected by Nigeria and therefore want a separate existence.
The people of Biafra know that the demand is neither a crime nor their leader, Kanu a criminal. For this reason they have shown their readiness to stand and sing every day he was brought to court under every kind of whether, come rain or shine, for their leader’s release. They also want all innocent Biafrans languishing in Nigeria gulags all over Nigeria, as a result of their Biafran activism, to be released.
They want the world to understand that it is the likes of Buhari, who have been allowed to rule and stand in judgment of others that were the criminals. Many of them who spoke to Biafra Family Writers argue that the time has come when criminals must not be allowed to sit in judgment of peace-loving and law-abiding citizens of the world.
They insist that Buhari is the war criminal and low-life felon who should be in prison and not Nnamdi Kanu. Buhari, they insisted is a school dropout who was smuggled into the Nigerian Army without the prerequisite qualification and certificates. He was among many of his likes from Northern Nigeria, who were aided and paddled along, to grow in unmerited ranks in the military, by the outrageously corrupt leadership of Northern Nigeria.
During the Biafra/Nigeria war, Buhari showed his animalistic nature by being found at the epicenter of every genocide and atrocity committed against innocent Biafran civilians, women, children and the aged. This Buhari was the man who overthrew a democratically elected government in 1983, and killed innocent people with a retroactive law because he did not like the part of the country they were from.
Buhari combines his animalistic brutal nature with financial crimes that stretched from his time as governor, minister of petroleum, and manager of the Petroleum Trust Fund. With the later, he showed another terrible trait – nepotism, and with it focused on developing the North ignoring the South (especially Biafraland). He went to London few days ago to tell the world that his countrymen were all criminals that should not be given asylum in any country of the world. But what the world failed to realize is that it was the likes of Buhari that made the country unfit for human habitation with their criminality and evils that made many to run away from it.
Right now, it would seem that the Biafran adage that best describes Buhari is that which states that “When death is about to consume the little dog, it does not allow it to perceive even the vilest smell of shit”. He sees everything pointing to Biafra independence, but refuses to heed wise counsel by releasing Nnamdi Kanu, and allowing everything to happen peacefully. He wants to lead Nigeria to war.
But the world must stop him. This is the best time for the world to force Buhari to release innocent Nnamdi Kanu. However, it is instructive to not that the momentum is rising as people of other nations and races air joining the Biafran protests (revolution). Buhari is the criminal, and he must be forced to release the innocent, Kanu. There are no two ways about it.
