30TH MAY SHOWDOWN: THE CONSUMMATE DISPLAY OF PATRIOTISM

BIAFRA:
30TH MAY SHOWDOWN: THE CONSUMMATE DISPLAY OF PATRIOTISM

Over six million souls and still counting -the greatest genocide of recent times, air raids, land and sea blockade, starvation, rape, torture, oiled with social injustice. …the starving and dying children, the hungry nursing mothers, the aged parents, the sick and abandoned -these died for a crime -they died for being Biafrans.

They died resisting Islam, they died resisting neo-colonialism, they died to retain their identity, they died to give us hope, they died proving that death has no victory, they died for Biafra, they died for Africa. During the civil war, Richard West, a British journalist, lamented ‘’Biafra is more than a human tragedy. Its defeat, I believe, would mark the end of African independence. Biafra was the first place I had been to in Africa where the Africans themselves were truly in charge’’.

In Ojukwu’s words, ‘’they (the world) accepted the total blockade against us as a legitimate weapon of war because it suits them and because we are black. …that Nigeria has received complete support from Britain should surprise no one. For Britain is a country whose history is replete with instances of genocide’’. Ngozi Adiche also lamented that ‘’the world was silent while we died’’. Why? -because we want to be free from every oppression -because we want to rule our own destiny -because we have the abilities to prove to be completely independent.

In spite of these, the voice cries louder, the drums beat faster and the wind blows hotter… the more Biafrans are resented, the more they crave for freedom, -the more they are killed, the more they discover their identity. Yes! Prof. Soyinka rightly said ‘’I remember I wrote an article during the war and I said at that time that Biafra cannot be defeated. People misunderstood what I was saying. I said, once an idea has taken hold, you cannot destroy that idea. You may destroy the people that carry the idea on the battlefield but, ultimately, it is not the end of the story’’.

‘’Nkpor 2016’’ can never come at a better time. It has come when we are more determined to restore Biafra than ever, when our leader and many of our co-freedom fighters are unlawfully detained, when Nnamdi Kanu needs to know that the entire citizens of Biafra are firmly behind him, when Fulani herdsmen patron has been sending his ground troops to spill the blood of innocent citizens, when injustice against Biafrans can no longer be ignored.

Hence, all roads lead to Nkpor on 30th May 2016. Every Biafran all around the zoo and in Biafra land is set to show that our heroes did not die in vain. ‘’Nkpor 2016’’ will be a grand show of unreserved patriotism to Biafra. No amount of threat or military presence can stand our numeric strength and courage. ‘’But if the price is death for all we hold dear, then let us die without a shred of fear… spilling our blood we’ll count a privilege’’.

So come on brothers and sisters, let us make Nkpor 2016 a remarkable event. Let it go down in history that you were part of that group that stood for courage. Let us raise our flags high, let us sing our song in our own land, let us lift up our heads for our restoration is nearer now than yesterday.
God bless our Heroes!
