Biafra: Still on the Visa denial to Kanu’s family members by Switzerland Embassy

By Andy Syl | For Biafra Writers

September 16, 2018

It baffles the world to see the Switzerland Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Eric Mayoraz who supervises all the activities of his country’s embassy situated at Plot 157, Adetokunbo Ademola crescent, Wuse II Abuja, displaying such insensitivity towards the plight of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by refusing them entry Visas to come and render testimonies of the inhumane treatment against Biafrans to the United Nations(UN) Human Rights Violations Committee concerning the military invasion on 14th September, 2017 at the home of His Royal Majesty, Eze Israel Okwu-Kanu, the father of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

In case the Switzerland embassy is oblivious of what actually transpired on the above date, in the palace of the IPOB leader’s royal family, then, it is only pertinent they understand that on 14th September last year, a violent group of the Nigerian Army, in compliance to the irrational orders of the Nigerian government, invaded the royal compound where IPOB members and some other visitors of the IPOB leader were singing and clapping when all of a sudden, they discovered some Nigerian soldiers firing teargas canisters and raining live bullets on the defenseless and unarmed members who were occupants of the compound.

This operation lasted for about 3 hours and at the end of the unprovoked invasion, the trigger-happy military officers left in their trail, 38 dead bodies, including a dog (Jack) and over 262 people displaced while the IPOB leader and his parents were abducted by the rampaging soldiers as they have not been seen anywhere nor heard from since after the invasion.

This incident was widely reported by most mainstream world media outlets, including the BBC and CNN. Recently, a shallow grave was discovered somewhere in Ukwa West District in Abia State, containing the decomposing bodies of over 180 bodies amongst the disappearing members of IPOB. This discovery was exposed through a report published by Amnesty International (AI) after their independent investigation.

Though the UN and other international bodies are not unaware of what happened and continued to happen, the UN wish to hear from the surviving members of the family who were present on the day of the invasion but regrettably, Switzerland that prides itself as a civilized nation of the world has failed to display this civility at this critical point in time. IPOB worldwide and the entire civilized world highly regret this ignoble role the Switzerland embassy in Abuja is playing in aiding and abetting impunity in an uncivilized Nigeria.

The entire members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide join other civilized nations of the world in urging the Switzerland Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Mayoraz to tow the part of honour and rescind his decision not to grant visas to members of Kanu’s family to visit Swiss on the invitation of the United Nations and do the needful by granting them urgent visas to appear before the UN body.
