Holding Nnamdi Kanu Is Like holding a Mother Hen

By Eluwa Chidiebere Chinazu | Biafra Writers

July 8th, 2021.

The abduction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Kenya and subsequent illegal detention in Nigeria has elicited diverse reactions from the public. Particularly in Biafra, the atmosphere is not friendly at all. His followers are believed to be waiting for a signal from the leadership to make the country feel their wrath.

Although Kenyan government continues to deny its involvement in the abduction of Kanu, every fact available in public domain establishes the opposite. Kenya is neck-deep in this international crime.

In and outside Nigeria, numerous voices have faulted the action of the Nigerian government, with many wondering why the same strength exercised in Kanu’s case cannot be displayed against the bandits who are killing people everywhere in the country and their mouthpiece, Gumi.

It should be noted that Kanu leads a pressure group called IPOB whose actions have been in tandem with both international and local laws till date. But the Nigerian government being led by an Islamic president, has tried severally to incriminate the group.

Recently, a very deadly militant group called the Unknown Gunmen surfaced in the East. This group was dislodging military and police checkpoints. With no evidence, the Nigerian government accused Nnamdi Kanu of being behind the group.

Understand that there has never been a time this militant group pledged allegiance to Kanu or associated its activities with him. Yet the government in its bid to incriminate Kanu and IPOB conveniently points accusing finger at him.

Indisputably, Kanu represents the aspirations of all Biafrans and by extension, an overwhelming number of Nigerians. The 100% compliance to the yearly Sit-at-home order by Kanu demonstrates this fact.

The Yoruba nation has declared their support for the incarcerated Biafra leader. Cho Ayaba, the commander of the Ambazonian arm forces, has also thrown his support behind him. And the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) who demanded for his release in 2015, has resurfaced.

Kanu is fighting for all. He is fighting seriously for the black race. The reactions from all over Africa and outside have shown that he is undoubtedly not alone. Indeed Nigeria is holding a mother hen. Kanu must be released to avoid the acidic rain that is about to fall.
