Biafra: 30th May Sit-At-Home Compliance, A Litmus Test For Biafra Referendum

June 01, 2017

The massive compliance of states in the Southeast and South-South recorded during the recently conducted Sit-at-home exercise by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to mark the Biafra Heroes Remembrance Day is a positive indication that Biafra restoration is at hand and now in full force.

It was noted that in spite of various efforts made by agents of the Nigerian government and South East Governors to scuttle and forestall the Sit-at-home directive, schools, markets, Banks, public and private enterprises and organizations were completely in comatose. Commercial activities was paralyzed, vehicular movements was halted while streets in the defunct Eastern region was completely deserted and rendered desolate, all in remembrance and honour of our Biafra Heroes and Heroines who sacrificed greatly for our freedom.

The massive compliance of states to the Sit-at-home directive speaks volume because for once, it pointed to the fact that the people known as “Biafrans” are sick and tired of the contraption called Nigeria and are now ready to return to their natural and original abode “Biafra”.

It is also a pointer to the fact that the masses have taken their destiny in their own hands and are now bold to face and tell their political leaders that they are no longer under their command and control as usual but are determined to chart course for their independence and liberation from the alien captivity and occupation of their ancestral inhabitation.

The people through the Sit-at-home protest has simply called it quit with the Nigerian society. They have indicated that they no longer wish to co-exist with other nations that made up the geographical entity of Nigeria and now, the whole world is fully aware of this fact which has indirectly answered all their questions, if the people support the total restoration of the Sovereign nation of Biafra.

No amount of intimidation, harassment or inducement of any kind, could have stopped the magic wand from casting and there’s no greater referendum other than this because through the maximum compliance and total shut down of commercial and routine activities, the people have conducted referendum by themselves and the result is glaringly evident that they are asking for nothing other than their total freedom and independence from Nigeria.

It was reported by an online newspaper publication, Ripples Nigeria, that the country’s business community recorded an estimated loss of over N6.2 billion in un-executed transactions as businesses and other revenue offices were completely shut down in observance of the Sit-at-home directive. Also, the Bureau of Statistics estimated Nigeria’s loss of over N6.5 billion over the strict adherence of the Sit-at-home protest by Biafrans. Therefore, for the people to choose to close down their business establishments, proves that they can go extra miles to achieve freedom. It is not an ordinary loss so to speak, but an honour to our fallen heroes and a pride to our businessmen, merchants and traders.

What then remains to be seen? The people through their words and actions has rightly expressed what they desire and where their heart lies. It is not enough to continue to neglect this collective ambition of the people because doing so foretells doom and catastrophe to the Nigeria entity. The people has expressed their opinion using all peacefully recognized means and apparatus. Therefore, to continue to denigrate the strong will of the people to self-determination is a path that leads to nothing but destruction. Biafrans have decided their fate and future, let’s not deny them this anymore. Enough should be enough!
