BIAFRA: NIGERIAN POLICE DEFIES COURT RULING, ABDUCTS VICTOR OGIEBE AT IPOB MEETING IN IGWEOCHA

April 17, 2017

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have been informed that a brethren who goes by the name Victor Ogiebe has been arrested by the Nigerian police.
Victor Ogiebe was arrested on 15th April, 2017, during a family meeting of IPOB at Umuebulu 1 Etche opposite Umuebulu police station.

According to one of his family members, “the reason for his arrest was because of the evangelism we recently carried out within the vicinity of Umuebulu on 2nd April, 2017; Victor is the caretaker of our meeting venue and also a block moulder.

“last night around 7pm, when we visited him at the station where he is being held, they did not allow us to give him the food we brought for him. This morning we were told that he has been transferred to Rivers State police head quarters at Moscow road, GI department on the order of the River state commissioner of police, Zaki Ahmed.

"The DPO that ordered Victor Ogiebe’s arrest is S.P Mary Iheanacho she is from Imo State, Her phone number is 08061222229."

This unruly behaviour exhibited by these set of Police men is nothing but outrageous considering that a competent court of jurisdiction, presided by justice Binta Nyako of the federal high court Abuja in Nnamdi Kanu's case, has ruled that IPOB is a lawful society. Furthermore, another magistrate court presided by Justice Jaja in Igweocha (Port Harcourt) also reiterated same when he recently discharged and acquitted 45 IPOB brethren arrested during the IPOB-Trump rally in the city.

Nigerian Police must adhere to the rulings of these various courts and stop harassing and arresting IPOB brethren for simply converging without intent to cause harm or civil unrest. The Indigenous People of Biafra under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu are only fighting for her right to self-determination and in the most civilized manner at that. Biafra evangelism does not violate the law of the state as right to freedom of speech, expression and assembly must not be infringed upon.

The Rivers State Police Commissioner Zaki Ahmed must be called to order. Nigerian police should focus on their job which entails catching criminals and combating Fulani herdsmen /Boko Haram that is threatening to wipe out Christians in the contraption called Nigeria.

Biafra Writers in conjunction with IPOB leadership is hereby demanding the release of Victor Ogiebe because he has committed no crime. We are also alerting human rights groups and international bodies on the evil meted out on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the Nigerian Police for no just cause and urging them to call these barbaric uniformed men to order. Victor Ogiebe must not be harmed in anyway as it will amount to a big ridicule to the judiciary who has ruled IPOB as lawful and should be treated as such.
